Lambaré - Mar del Plata

Lambaré isn’t deep, barely breaking the surface in spots, but don't let that fool you. This is a genuinely compelling shallow wreck dive, one we’ve returned to often. The mast, sometimes visible from shore, punches up from just 5 metres, a stark reminder of the old trawler's fate. Descending, you’re immediately enveloped by the structure; it's less about penetration here and more about the sheer volume of metal and the life clinging to it. We love the way the light filters through the waves, illuminating schools of silversides darting between the decaying beams. Look closely, and you’ll spot nudibranchs, often in surprising colours, grazing on the encrusted hull. It’s an easy dive, perfect for photographers wanting to practice wide-angle in calm conditions or newer divers keen to experience a wreck without the added pressure of depth. Our favourite time to visit is on a slack tide, when the surge eases off and visibility often extends to a solid 10 metres. Keep an eye out for conger eels tucked into the darker recesses; they’re shy but often present.
