LANGUIN - Mar del Plata

Languin isn't your typical dive. Forget depth; we’re talking a single meter here, maybe a touch more on a high tide. This is a wreck for the curious, for those who love history draped in kelp. The *Languin* was a small fishing boat, caught in a storm in the 1960s and driven onto the rocky shore near Punta Mogotes. Now, its remains are a skeletal art piece, slowly being reclaimed by the sea and the city. We love it because it’s so accessible, a perfect introduction to wreck diving for anyone comfortable in the water. You’ll spend your time exploring the ribs of the hull, the rusted engine block, and whatever remnants of the deck structure still cling on. The resident crabs here are enormous, scuttling amongst the barnacles, and the kelp sways like a curtain, making the whole scene feel wonderfully eerie. Visibility can be hit or miss – it’s Mar del Plata, after all – but even on murkier days, the sheer character of the wreck shines through. Go at slack tide for the best experience; it makes navigating the low surge much easier. It's less about spotting specific species and more about soaking in the atmosphere of a lost vessel.
