Las Marías - Mar del Plata

We love a good wreck, and the Las Marías, sitting in just 8m of water off Mar del Plata, is a fantastic option for a shallow dive with a real sense of history. This isn't some pristine, intact vessel; she’s a dangerous wreck, yes, but that’s exactly what gives her character. We’re talking about an old fishing trawler, broken into sections, which makes for some seriously interesting swim-throughs and an almost labyrinthine feel. You’ll spend your dive navigating twisted metal and exploring open holds that now serve as homes for a surprising amount of cold-water life. We've seen fat conger eels peering from dark crevices and schools of sciaenids darting between the rusty beams. The light plays beautifully through the shattered superstructure, especially on a sunny day, creating an almost melancholic atmosphere. Our favourite part? The stern section, often draped in kelp, feels like a ghost ship. It’s a site that tells a story, perfect for divers who appreciate history and the way nature reclaims what man leaves behind.
