Madness - Mar del Plata

Forget what you think you know about wrecks. Madness, just off Mar del Plata, isn't some deep, dark behemoth for technical divers. It's a glorious, shallow tangle of metal, perfect for an hour's exploration, and it's one of our favourite dives in the area. The hull, broken and scattered in only five metres of water, means you get extended bottom time, really letting you pick apart the details. We love watching the kelp sway around the twisted beams, creating these eerie, green-lit corridors. The character here is all about the light and the way the sea has reclaimed the steel. You'll navigate through rusted plates and engine parts, home to scuttling crabs and countless small fish darting in and out of the shadows. It’s a shallow site, so it's a great spot for newer divers looking to get their first taste of a wreck, but also fantastic for photographers who want to play with the sunbeams penetrating the kelp forest. Don’t expect big pelagics; this dive is about the micro-details, the texture of rust, and the surprising resilience of life in an artificial reef. If the surface is choppy, it can stir things up a bit, but on a calm day, the visibility lets you appreciate the entire scene from above.
