María B. - Mar del Plata

The María B. isn't about deep dives or big pelagics. This is a shallow, historical wreck, really more of a skeletal remains, sitting at a maximum depth of three metres. We love it for the sheer accessibility and the feeling of diving through a ghost story. You’re essentially snorkelling over history here. What you'll find is the broken hull of a fishing trawler, a tangled metal sculpture that’s been thoroughly claimed by the sea. Think intricate patterns of rust and barnacles, with schools of silversides darting in and out of the twisted metal. We've seen plenty of blennies peeking from crevices, and the occasional crab scuttling across the plates. It’s perfect for new divers getting a feel for wreck penetration, or for photographers looking for interesting textures and light play in very shallow water. Our tip: go on a calm day; even a slight chop can stir things up and reduce visibility to almost nothing. It’s a completely different experience when the water is still, letting the sunlight cut through the structure.
