MARTIN FIERRO - Mar del Plata

Alright, Mar del Plata. The Martin Fierro. Forget your deep dives here, because this one’s all about history, and how the ocean reclaims things, right at the surface. It's a proper wreck, and what we love about it is how accessible it is. You’re snorkelling, maybe a freedive, right on top of this old fishing trawler that ran aground decades ago. The metal skeleton is right there, just inches below the waves, a twisted landscape of rust and barnacles. You can trace the outline of the deck, see where the wheelhouse once stood. It’s a shallow spectacle, but don't let that fool you. Little crabs scuttle across the hull, and tiny fish dart through the shadows cast by the sun. It's a great spot for photographers keen on capturing the stark, sculptural beauty of a wreck, or for anyone who just wants a close-up encounter with a piece of maritime history without needing a tank. Our favourite time to visit? A calm day, mid-morning, when the sun is bright and the water still.
