Mister Sodio V - Mar del Plata

Let's be frank, Mar del Plata isn't on many divers' radars, and that's a shame. Mister Sodio V is the kind of dive that makes you glad you packed your 7mm. This isn't some deep, dark, advanced wreck. No, Sodio V sits in a mere 7 metres of water, perfect for extended bottom times and a thoroughly relaxing exploration. What we love about it is the light. Sunlight streams in, illuminating the structure, making it feel less like a gloomy wreck and more like an open-air museum. The wreck itself is a lighter vessel, and it has settled nicely on the sandy bottom, providing ample nooks for marine life. We've seen conger eels poking their heads out, kingfish darting through the rusted superstructure, and always, always, a scattering of crabs scuttling across the deck plates. Our favourite thing is the way the kelp has started to colonise the higher parts of the wreck, swaying gently with the surge. It’s a photographer's dream on a sunny day. We'd suggest going early, before any wind picks up, to get the best visibility. It’s a great choice for newer wreck divers or anyone looking for a chilled-out dive with character.
