MONICA Y LIS - Mar del Plata

Monica y Lis isn't your average Mar del Plata dive. We think it's the best wreck around here, especially if you appreciate a bit of history beneath the waves. This isn't some deep, dark artificial reef; it’s a real, proper wreck with a story. You can easily spend your whole dive here, weaving through the hull remains, imagining the fishing boat in its prime. What we love most is how the metal structure has become a home. Look closely and you’ll spot all sorts of small crabs scuttling over the plates, moray eels peeking from crevices, and sometimes even a hefty congrio eel tucked away in a shadowed corner. The visibility can be a bit hit-or-miss depending on the day and the season, but even on an average vis day, the sheer scale of the wreck, even as a skeletal outline, keeps your attention. Our pick for timing would be a calm morning, just after a period of settled weather, for the clearest views. It’s a fantastic dive for photographers who enjoy texture and shadows, and for anyone who gets a thrill from exploring a genuine piece of maritime heritage.
