NELSON - Mar del Plata

The *Nelson* in Mar del Plata isn't about tropical fish or technicolor reefs. It’s about history, about a deep dive into something tangible and a little bit haunting. This isn’t a warm water drift, it's a cold water exploration, often with limited visibility, but that's part of its charm. We love the way the wreck emerges from the gloom, its old steel plates now a canvas for sponges and anemones. What you'll find here is a genuine piece of the past, a large freighter that went down in 1940. The structure is mostly intact, offering plenty of nooks and crannies to explore. We’ve spent hours finning along the decks, poking into cargo holds, and admiring the encrusting life that has made this wreck its home. Keep an eye out for the big conger eels lurking in the shadows; they're our favourite residents. This site is definitely one for wreck enthusiasts and those who appreciate a dive with a story, happy to trade bright colours for an atmospheric journey into history.
