NORBERTO - Mar del Plata

Norberto isn't just another wreck; it’s a portal to Mar del Plata’s fishing heritage, lying upright and proud at a very comfortable 15 meters. We love how accessible it is, perfect for an afternoon dive without needing to push any limits. The Norberto, a former fishing trawler, settled onto the sandy seabed decades ago, and what’s left is a fascinating skeletal structure of steel beams and plating, now heavily encrusted with mussels and anemones. As you descend, the sheer size of the trawler becomes apparent. The bridge is largely gone, but the engine room, while a silty challenge, still offers glimpses into its past life. We always find plenty of crabs scuttling along the deck, and schools of hake dart in and out of the darker spaces. Look closely in the nooks and crannies for small morays – they’re shy but definitely present. Our favourite part has to be the stern, where the propeller shaft is still visible, a testament to the boat’s working days. It’s a dive that rewards careful exploration, telling a story of the sea and the city above.
