OREJANA - Mar del Plata

Orejana isn't your typical colourful reef dive, but we love it for its raw, historical appeal. This isn't about deep blue or huge pelagics. It’s a shallow wreck, barely meters deep, a skeleton of a ship that ran aground way back in 1916. The real draw here is the sheer force of the Atlantic, constantly reshaping the metal, creating new hideaways for resident fish. We've explored this wreck countless times, often in surprisingly choppy conditions, which just adds to the adventure. You’ll weave through rusted frames, feel the surge push you gently along, and peer into shadowy nooks where schools of silversides dart. It’s an intimate dive, a chance to really interact with a piece of history that’s become an artificial reef. Don't expect pristine, but do expect character. It’s perfect for photographers looking for dramatic light and shadow, or divers who appreciate a strong sense of place over coral gardens. Keep an eye out for the odd crab scuttling across the seabed here, they're everywhere. We'd suggest going at high tide for slightly calmer water over the structure.
