Ostrillon - Mar del Plata

The Ostrillon, a lighter vessel sunk decades ago, sits in a surprisingly shallow 4 metres just off Mar del Plata. We love this site because it’s so accessible, an easy shore dive, and it’s genuinely different from anything else in the area. Descending, you’re greeted by the wreck's skeletal remains, surprisingly intact given its age and depth. The metalwork is encrusted with anemones and sponges, a vibrant splash of colour against the rusted hull. Schools of silversides often shimmer around the superstructure, parting as you glide through, while the occasional cuttlefish might be spotted camouflaged on a beam. It’s an ideal spot for new wreck divers or anyone wanting a relaxed, long bottom time. We’d suggest going at high tide for the best visibility, which can average around 5-8 metres here. The Ostrillon offers a tangible connection to Mar del Plata's maritime history, a quiet, colourful exploration within easy reach.
