PASO DE LA PATRIA - Mar del Plata

Paso de la Patria isn't your typical reef dive. It's a historical time capsule, a patrol boat from the War of the Triple Alliance, sunk in 1880. We love how the wreck's structure, now completely flattened, has become a home for so much life. Think less dramatic ship silhouette and more an archaeological site, spread out across the seabed. The experience here is all about the details. You’ll spend your dive slowly investigating the hull’s outline, feeling the cooler water as you hover over where the deck once was. Look for the small, curious crabs scuttling over the metal plates, and the shoals of silversides that dart in and out of the crevices. It's a site that really rewards a slow pace and a keen eye. We've found the visibility can be a bit moody, often better earlier in the day before the currents pick up. It’s definitely a dive for those who appreciate history and the quiet beauty of a man-made structure slowly rejoining the natural world.
