PERUEL 111 - Mar del Plata

The Peruel 111 isn't your typical deep-sea wreck adventure; it’s something else entirely. Resting in a mere 3 metres of water just off Mar del Plata, this isn't about penetration or epic depth, but about accessibility and the sheer joy of a historical site that’s been embraced by the shallows. We love it for how approachable it makes wreck diving, a fantastic spot for newer divers to experience something genuinely old, or for anyone wanting a relaxed, long bottom time. You're essentially snorkelling or very shallow diving over history here. The wooden ribs of the sailing vessel are surprisingly intact, spread across the sandy bottom like skeletal fingers reaching for the surface. Sunlight slices through the water, illuminating the structure and the schools of small fish that dart through the timbers. We've seen crabs scuttling over the planks and anemones clinging to the darker nooks. Our favourite time to visit is on a calm, sunny day when the visibility is at its best, often reaching 5 to 7 metres, making it feel almost like an open-air museum. It's a proper wreck, just scaled for a different kind of dive.
