PLUTUS - Mar del Plata

Plutus isn’t about depth, it’s about history you can touch. At a consistent four metres, this isn't a dive where you'll be worried about deco stops, but rather about soaking in the atmosphere of a ship that’s been part of the seabed for over a century. We love poking around the remnants of its mast, which really gives you a sense of the vessel's original scale, even if it's mostly collapsed now. The shallow depth means fantastic ambient light, and on a sunny day, the whole wreck glows with a soft, green hue. This site is perfect for photographers, especially macro enthusiasts. While there aren’t big schools of fish, the wreck has become home to an impressive collection of anemones, small crabs scuttling over corroded metal, and sometimes even an octopus tucked away in a crevice. It’s also our pick for divers new to wreck exploration; the open structure and lack of overhead environments make it feel safe and accessible. We’d suggest going at high tide to maximise visibility and avoid any sediment stirred up from the bottom. Plutus is a gentle dive, a quiet exploration of a past era, and a real testament to how nature reclaims what we leave behind.
