Prin Sea - Mar del Plata

Prin Sea isn’t your typical warm-water wreck dive. Off Mar del Plata, this Argentine fishing trawler sits shallow, only four metres deep, making it a perfect spot for those wanting more bottom time without the heavy deco schedule. We love how accessible it is. The Prin Sea was scuttled intentionally, a move to create an artificial reef, and over the years, nature has really taken over. You’ll find its steel skeleton encrusted with anemones and hydroids, a surprisingly colourful tapestry against the colder water. Look closely and you’ll spot small schooling fish darting through the rusted hull and often a few larger bream or conger eels tucked into the darker crevices. It’s a site where macro life truly shines; bring a good torch to peer into the nooks and crannies. The shallow depth means ambient light is decent, but a light will help pick out the details in the holds. We’d suggest going on a calm day; while the wreck itself is protected, surface chop can make the descent a bit bumpy. It’s not a challenging dive in terms of depth, but currents can pick up, so check conditions locally. Prin Sea is our pick for new wreck divers or photographers keen on spending ages perfecting a shot.
