The Rambla, right off Mar del Plata, isn’t your typical deep-blue wreck dive. At a maximum depth of three metres, it's more of a historical snorkel or a very shallow scuba experience, but don't let that fool you. This is a genuinely compelling site for anyone who appreciates a bit of history mingling with the shallows. What we love about the Rambla is its accessibility and the way the local marine life has utterly reclaimed it. You're swimming over the remains of an old fishing vessel, close to shore, and the light is always fantastic. It's an ideal spot for macro photography – think small crabs scuttling over rusted metal, tiny gobies peering from crevices, and the occasional juvenile fish darting amongst the kelp that’s taken root on the structure. The wreck itself is quite broken up now, but you can still make out the general shape, and we find the way the hull plates have twisted and buckled creates some really interesting swim-throughs, albeit very small ones. Visibility can be a bit variable here depending on the swell, but on a calm day, it’s a revelation. Our favourite time to go is mid-morning, just after the sun has warmed the water a touch and before any afternoon breezes kick up. It's a gentle, contemplative dive, perfect for beginners or anyone who enjoys exploring a piece of maritime history without the pressure of depth or currents. It's not about big pelagics; it's about the intricate details and the quiet beauty of a wreck slowly returning to the sea.
