TN - 1156 - Mar del Plata

Mar del Plata might not be on every diver's radar, but the TN - 1156 wreck offers something genuinely interesting, especially for those who appreciate a bit of history in shallow water. This isn’t a vibrant coral reef, it’s a working wreck, sitting upright at a comfortable 7 metres. We love how accessible it is, perfect for an extended bottom time, allowing you to really pick apart the details. The TN - 1156 is an old tugboat, and you can still make out plenty of its structure – the wheelhouse, the deck fittings, even some of the machinery. Over the years, local life has moved in. Expect to see schools of silversides flickering around the superstructure, while crabs and small lobsters peek out from crevices. It’s a great site for photographers keen on macro subjects and interesting textures. Our tip: go during a calm period. Visibility can vary, but on a good day, the light plays beautifully through the remaining deck plates, creating some dramatic shadows. It’s a proper wreck dive, minus the deep air consumption worries.
