Traverso 19 - Mar del Plata

Traverso 19 is one of those shallow wrecks that just keeps giving, especially when the light is right. You’re only dropping to four metres, which makes it perfect for a long, relaxed dive, or even a snorkel if the conditions are calm. What we love about this wreck isn't its size, but its story and how nature has completely taken over. The old fishing trawler sits broken in two main sections, scattered across the sandy bottom. You can swim right over and through parts of the superstructure, peering into the collapsed engine room or where the wheelhouse once stood. Sunlight often dapples through the gaps, illuminating the schools of silversides that flicker inside the wreck's skeletal frame. Look closely, and you'll spot crabs scuttling in crevices and anemones clinging to rusted metal. On a good day, the visibility stretches to around 10 metres, letting you appreciate the scale of the wreckage. It’s an easy dive for anyone, even those just starting out, and a really satisfying one for photographers keen on capturing the interplay of rust, light, and life. We'd suggest going in the late morning, the sun angle really brings out the textures.
