TRIENA - Mar del Plata

Triena isn’t for everyone, and we’re okay with that. This isn't your typical South American dive. We’re talking shallow, often choppy water right off Mar del Plata’s coast, but what you get in return is a genuinely unique wreck experience. The Triena, a fishing trawler that met its end decades ago, lies completely broken up in a mere three metres of water. We love the challenge here, navigating the scattered ribs and plating that are now home to a surprisingly robust ecosystem. You’ll spend your dive weaving through the skeletal remains, feeling the surge pull you gently over barnacle-encrusted metal. Our favourite moments are spotting the octopus tucked deep into a crevice or watching a school of silversides shimmer through a rusted porthole frame. It’s an ideal site for macro photographers who don’t mind getting up close and personal, or anyone looking for a different kind of dive, one where the history is as palpable as the salt in the air. Dive it on a calm day; the visibility is far better, and you’ll appreciate the details much more.
