VENTARRON III - Mar del Plata

Ventarrón III isn't deep, topping out at a shallow six metres, but that’s precisely its charm. It’s a sailing vessel, what the old charts called a “dangerous wreck,” and it sits perfectly upright. We love how the hull has become a canvas for life; barnacles thickly coat every surface, and we’ve seen schools of juvenile pollock darting in and out of the broken mast sections. It’s an easy dive, really. The limited depth means generous bottom time, so you can poke around every nook and cranny. Keep an eye out for nudibranchs, particularly along the deck where they graze on the algae. Our favourite part? Sliding along the deck and imagining the storm that brought her down. It's a great spot for newer divers looking for their first wreck experience, or for photographers wanting to capture that moody, silhouette-against-the-surface shot. Just pick a calm day; the visibility can get a bit soupy if the swell is up.
