Wilson 32 - Mar del Plata

Wilson 32 isn't your typical colourful reef dive, and that's precisely why we love it. This isn't about vibrant corals; it's about history and the surprising resilience of the ocean. Dropping onto the wreck at a shallow 12 metres, you immediately feel the chill of the South Atlantic, a reminder of the powerful waters this old trawler succumbed to. The structure itself is broken, twisted metal, a testament to the storms it faced, but it's exactly this brokenness that creates such intriguing nooks and crannies. What you'll find here is a stark beauty. We often see thick schools of hake darting through the shadowed corridors, their silver scales glinting, and sometimes a grumpy Patagonian octopus will peek out from under a collapsing deck beam. The visibility can be temperamental, from a decent 10 metres to a low 3, so pick your day. If you catch it right, with a touch of sunshine piercing the surface, the light play inside the wreck is our favourite part – ethereal and a little spooky. This dive suits those who appreciate the story a wreck tells, the thrill of exploration in a truly wild environment, and aren't afraid of a bit of chill.
