WILSON NO.19 - Mar del Plata

Wilson No.19 is easily our favourite wreck in Mar del Plata, a genuinely solid dive for anyone comfortable with cooler water and a bit of history. She’s a tugboat, scuttled intentionally, and sits upright with her superstructure largely intact. Dropping down, you hit the deck at around 18 metres, and the stern section, with its prop and rudder, is always a highlight. We love working our way into the wheelhouse and engine room, where schools of hake and silversides swirl, sometimes so thick you can barely see your buddy. Look for the nudibranchs on the encrusted metalwork and the occasional conger eel peeking from a dark corner. The visibility here can be hit-or-miss, but on a good day, when the sun is out and the swell is low, it’s an absolute stunner. We’d suggest going early in the morning for the best chance at calmer conditions. This wreck suits divers who appreciate a good penetration, or simply enjoy circling a well-preserved piece of maritime history.
