Parcel da Laje Branca - Arraial do Cabo

Santa Rosa Shallows is our go-to for a mellow second dive after the big drop-off at the Wall. It’s a completely different vibe, and we love it for that. You’re never really deeper than 17 metres here, so the sunlight just pours over the reef, making all the corals glow. The current is usually pretty gentle, a nice drift along a patchy reef system rather than a full washing machine. We always keep an eye out for the endemic Splendid toadfish tucked into crevices – their bright yellow eyes are unmistakable. You’ll see plenty of painted wrasse darting between the coral heads, and often a Caribbean spiny lobster peeking out from under an overhang. We’ve even bumped into spotted eagle rays cruising by in the blue, though they’re more of a lucky bonus. It's a relaxed dive, perfect for photographers or anyone who just wants to really soak in the smaller details of a healthy Caribbean reef.
