Bajo del Hospital, even the name sounds like a place where things happen, and believe us, they do. This isn't a gentle drift, it's a full-on immersion into Malpelo's raw power. We love dropping in here, particularly when the currents are lively, because that’s when the big stuff comes out to play. You’ll feel the surge against you, a constant reminder you’re in the open ocean. Schools of French Grunt and Needlefish create shimmering walls, and we've spent entire dives just watching the intricate dance of Nassau groupers and Bartail Gobies navigating the Honeycomb Plate Coral. Keep an eye out for the smaller, more curious residents too – Yellowhead Wrasse darting through crevices, and the occasional Trunkfish or Baldwin's Serranid peeking out. It’s a site that demands your attention, forcing you to focus on the immediate surroundings while still scanning the blue for Allison’s Tuna streaking past. We think it’s best for experienced divers comfortable with dynamic conditions, offering a pure hit of Malpelo's untamed character.
