Cantil del Hospital - Malpelo Island

Cantil del Hospital is one of those sites that just feels like a Malpelo dive, big and full of energy. We love it for the sheer volume of fish. Drop in and you’re instantly surrounded by schools of surgeonfish and jacks, so dense you sometimes lose sight of your buddy for a second. Our favorite trick here is to find a spot on the wall around 18m and just hang out, watching the show. You’ll see plenty of triggerfish darting about, and if you have a keen eye, look for the Pacific spotted scorpionfish camouflaged on the rocks. We often spot tiger groupers patrolling the deeper ledges, too. The site suits divers who are comfortable with potential surge and current, ready for an exciting, fast-paced drift. It’s an incredible spot for just absorbing the sheer force of the Malpelo ecosystem, feeling the ocean pulse around you.
