El Arco del Tropic - Malpelo Island

El Arco del Tropic is where Malpelo truly flexes its muscles. We love dropping into this one, especially when the current isn’t too feisty. It’s not just an arch, it’s a gateway into a different world, carved out of the rock face. You're enveloped by the deep blue, the visibility often stretching so far you feel like you can see forever. Keep an eye out for the big stuff here, it's what Malpelo is famous for. We’ve had incredible encounters with Galapagos sharks, circling with that lazy, powerful grace. Look a little closer, and you'll spot Cauliflower and Corrugated corals clinging to the rock, providing shelter for smaller fish like Pink Cardinalfish. Our favourite moment is often seeing the schooling Pompano, a shimmering silver river moving as one. It's a site that suits experienced divers who appreciate the raw, wild nature of an oceanic outpost, a place where the ocean’s giants come to play. It's truly a standout dive for the sheer scale of the encounters.
