Flag Rock
Why dive here
With 71+ marine species recorded in the area - including barracuda and pufferfish - Flag Rock offers some of Malpelo Island's richest reef diving. Water ranges 28-30°C, warmest September, October, November.
Flag Rock is a busy Malpelo spot, often with a washing machine current you’ll want to time right. We usually see hammerheads schooling in the blue here, along with the occasional whale shark cruising by. It’s definitely for experienced divers comfortable in stronger currents, but the big animal action makes it worth the effort.
