Punta Venado - Malpelo Island

Punta Venado is our pick for Malpelo’s resident shark party. It’s wild, it’s remote, and frankly, it’s not for the faint of heart. We're talking serious current here sometimes, so you need to be comfortable in big water. Drop in and immediately you’re swept into the blue, keeping an eye out for the hammerhead schools that cruise by in the distance. We’ve seen hundreds here, a grey wall moving as one, and it’s a humbling sight. The real show, though, is the sheer number of silvertips and Galapagos sharks. They come in close, circling just out of arm's reach, their eyes tracking your every move. It’s less about intricate reef details and more about the raw, untamed power of the ocean’s apex predators. We’d suggest a morning dive, as the light often catches the shark’s silvery flanks just right, making them gleam as they pass. You’ll leave feeling exhilarated, maybe a little rattled, but definitely changed.
