Rockfish Reef
Why dive here
With 71+ marine species recorded in the area - including barracuda and pufferfish - Rockfish Reef offers some of Malpelo Island's richest reef diving. Water ranges 28-30°C, warmest September, October, November.
Rockfish Reef offers a chance to see some of Malpelo’s typical residents in a slightly calmer setting. We’ve found good numbers of green morays here, often peeking out from the coral, alongside whitetip reef sharks resting on the sandy patches. It's a good spot for a second dive after a more current-heavy drift, allowing for closer observation of the reef dwellers.
