LOCUMBA 10 - Lima & Palomino Islands

Locumba 10 is our pick if you’re looking for a proper wreck dive near Lima. This isn’t some broken-up pile of metal; it’s a 21-meter fishing vessel, sitting upright and mostly intact on the seabed at 50 meters. Dropping down, you’ll see the bow first, often appearing out of a green haze, which only adds to the drama. We love how the wheelhouse is still there, a hollow shell you can peek into. The deep, cold water means you’ll need your drysuit and good buoyancy control. Penetration is limited, but we’ve spent plenty of time exploring the deck, looking for the resident crabs that scuttle between the deck fittings. Visibility can be a bit variable, but on a good day, the silhouette of the wreck against the deep blue is quite striking. It’s a challenging dive, best suited for experienced divers comfortable with depth and slightly lower visibility, but it offers a real sense of adventure.
