Bali Villa Dive Resort Housereef - Lombok & Gili Islands

Coral Garden Reef, off Zanzibar, always feels like a gentle welcome mat. The reef slopes down so gradually, almost as if it's easing you into the Indian Ocean. We love this spot for its sheer comfort, especially after a rougher day. It's not a deep dive, topping out around 17 metres, which means plenty of bottom time and lots of light spilling onto the hard coral formations. You'll spend most of your dive just drifting over these varied corals – big plate corals, brain corals, some intricate branching structures, all in muted golds and browns and purples. Keep your eyes peeled for those smaller, often overlooked creatures. We’ve had great luck spotting Eroded Cowries tucked into crevices and the occasional Bloodspot Pipefish blending in with the reef. Honeycomb Groupers often hang out in the shadows, and we’ve even come across the striking Granular Frog Shell. It’s a site that rewards slow exploration rather than rushing around. Visibility averages 18 metres, usually a calm, clear blue. It suits newer divers or anyone wanting a relaxed dive focusing on macro life and healthy hard coral.
