Dive Resort - Diving La Vida Loca - Bali - Lombok & Gili Islands
The team at Diving La Vida Loca, despite the Bali in their name, are our go-to when we’re heading for the Lombok and Gili islands. We’ve always found them to be solid, no-nonsense PADI operators. They’re really good at getting new divers comfortable in the water, thanks to that dedicated pool, but we love them for their straightforward approach to guiding. They know the sites here like the back of their hand. Diving around the Gili islands can get busy, but La Vida Loca’s guides always seem to find a quieter corner, or know the exact time to drop in to miss the crowds. We’ve had some cracking drifts with them along the Gili Trawangan wall, spotting reef sharks cruising deep and big bumphead parrotfish crunching coral on the shallower sections. And if you’re looking for something a bit different, ask them about a trip to Lombok’s Secret Garden. The boat ride can be a bit choppy, but the healthy soft corals swaying in the current and the sheer volume of schooling fusiliers make it worth the effort. Visibility here usually stays above 15 metres, even during the rainy season, though we’d suggest aiming for May to September for the calmest surface conditions.
