Gili Layar Corner - Lombok & Gili Islands

La Pointe à Vache is a standout for us in Cousteau Reserve, a site we return to frequently when we're in Guadeloupe. It’s got this mellow vibe, starting with rocky outcrops around 5 metres, a perfect spot to let the initial excitement settle before dropping down. We love following the slope to a sandy bottom around 19 metres, it’s like a gentle exploration. The coral here is something else. You'll see robust elkhorn coral right under the boat, a real showstopper. But it’s the smaller, shyer residents that truly make this place sing for us. Keep an eye out for the island gobies and goldspot gobies, they're everywhere if you slow down and look closely. We’ve had incredible luck spotting yellowhead jawfish darting into their burrows, and the tiny Molly Miller blennies are always a treat to find. It’s a site that rewards patience, perfect for photographers or anyone who enjoys a relaxed dive with plenty of intricate details to observe.
