Good Heart - Lombok & Gili Islands

Lean doesn't get the same buzz as the Gili T sites, and we’re totally fine with that. It’s a bit of a trek, about 5km south of Jemeluk, but that means fewer boats and more space. You start over a sandy slope from the river mouth, easing down to about 20 meters. Here, the garden eels put on a show – thousands of them, swaying in unison, creating this incredible, hypnotic vista as far as you can see. It's a gentle start, perfect for getting dialled in, but the real magic begins when you push south. After about a hundred meters, that sand gives way to a series of vibrant walls. These drop deep, well past recreational limits, but we like to cruise the edges at 25-29m. White tip reef sharks often nap in the crevices, and you might spot a big brown marble grouper lurking in the shadows. The staghorn and table corals are genuinely impressive here, healthier than some of the more trafficked sites. It’s a relaxed dive, usually with mild currents, and we think it's one of Lombok’s best-kept secrets for just soaking it all in.
