Panjang Reef - Lombok & Gili Islands

Just off the northwest corner of Lombok, a kilometre out from Moyo, lies Panjang Reef. It's a sloped, banking coral reef, and we’ve always found it a cheerful place to spend an hour. You’ll spot plenty of bi-colour angelfish flitting between the corals, along with six-banded angelfish and yellow-bellied damsels. Keep an eye out for harlequin sweetlips, too. But the real draw here, if you’re lucky and eagle-eyed, is the blue-ringed octopus – a brilliant splash of yellow and blue that’s always a thrill to find. It’s a gentle dive, perfect for a relaxed afternoon.
