With 236+ marine species recorded in the area - including blacktip reef sharks, manta rays, mobula rays (devil rays), pygmy seahorses and sea turtles - Soft corals in the passage offers some of Raja Ampat's richest reef diving. Water ranges 29-30°C, warmest May, November, December.
The Soft Corals site in The Passage lives up to its name, a kaleidoscope of soft corals and sea fans clinging to every surface. It’s a drift dive for us, carried gently past bommies draped in red and orange, with schools of fusiliers and triggerfish fluttering through the shallows. Keep an eye out for the small stuff, like Denise's pygmy seahorse tucked into a gorgonian, or the oddly adorable Truncated Ark on the sandy bottom. You might also spot a Leatherback or Olive Ridley cruising by. It’s a relaxed dive, good for photographers and those who appreciate a slower pace to really soak it all in.
