West Penemu - Raja Ampat
West Penemu often flies under the radar compared to Raja Ampat’s bigger names, but it’s a site we always enjoy for its smaller wonders. We’ve found the slopes and shallow reefs here are excellent for macro photography, especially if you’re into gobies and pygmy seahorses. Keep an eye out for Denise’s pygmy seahorse tucked into a gorgonian, and the various pygmy gobies, like the Wasp and Meshed, that are common residents. It’s a calmer dive, usually without strong currents, making it a good choice for newer divers or those who prefer to take their time searching for the tiny stuff.
