Ombak Divers, off Perhentian Besar, gives you a real taste of the local reef. It's a relatively gentle dive, a good spot for easing into the Perhentian vibe or for some relaxed photography. We often see the usual suspects here, like big green turtles gliding past, and plenty of those blackspotted sea cucumbers inching along the sandy patches. Keep an eye out for stonefish camouflaged on the rocky bits, and the honeycomb and bubble corals are always worth a closer look. If you're really lucky, a whale shark might cruise by, but even without that, it’s a solid dive for appreciating the smaller details.
