Masaplod Sur in Dauin is a classic muck dive. The seabed here is mostly dark sand and mud, but don’t let that deter you. We consistently find frogfish – painted and giant – along with various nudibranchs and flatworms camouflaged surprisingly well against the substrate. Keep an eye out for robust ghost pipefish swaying gently in the slight current, and often a grumpy stonefish or two. It’s a site that rewards slow, careful searching, perfect for photographers and anyone keen on macro critter hunting.
