With 87+ marine species recorded in the area - including sea turtles, thresher sharks, lionfish and pufferfish - Monad Shoal offers some of Malapascua's richest reef diving. Water ranges 28-31°C, warmest May, June, July.
Monad Shoal is where we head for thresher sharks, plain and simple. We usually drop onto the sandy plateau before dawn, waiting patiently in the gloom for them to cruise past the cleaning stations. It’s a deep dive, around 20 to 30 meters, so proper dive planning is key. The site is best for experienced divers comfortable with early mornings and decent depths.
