    StandoutExceptional marine biodiversity

The Damar wreck is a solid pick for a shallow dive around Singapore's Southern Islands. This tugboat went down in 1975, settling upright in about 10 meters of water, making it perfect for newer divers or those looking for a longer bottom time. The hull is largely intact, heavily encrusted with barnacles and sponges, and you’ll often spot batfish schooling around the superstructure, along with the usual cast of damselfish and rabbitfish darting in and out of the crevices. It’s not a penetration dive by any stretch, but circling the wreck gives you a good sense of its history and the surprising amount of life it now supports. We find it’s a good spot to practice buoyancy and observe how artificial reefs evolve.
