GEMILANG JAYA 15 - Southern Islands

The Gemilang Jaya 15, a small motor vessel, sits upright in just five metres of water. It’s not a grand wreck, by any stretch, but that’s precisely why we love it. This isn't about deep penetration or navigating dark holds; it’s about a relaxed, shallow dive where you can truly take your time. Visibility can be hit or miss in Singapore, but on a good day, the light filters down, illuminating the superstructure and the soft corals that have begun to fuzz its lines. We've spent many an hour poking around the wheelhouse, watching damselfish dart in and out of the windows. Nudibranchs are practically guaranteed, often in vibrant yellows and purples, inching their way across the hull. It’s a fantastic spot for macro photography or just getting comfortable with wreck diving without the usual depth pressures. We’d suggest going at slack tide; currents here can be surprisingly brisk given the sheltered location, making the gentle exploration we prefer a bit more of a workout than it needs to be.
