GREAT EASTERN - Southern Islands

The Great Eastern is one of Singapore’s deeper wreck dives, and we love it for that reason alone. It’s a proper expedition, not just a quick dip. You're dropping onto a deep motor vessel, sitting upright at 50 metres, which means careful planning and conservative bottom times are essential. We've always found the visibility here can be a bit of a lottery, sometimes twenty metres, sometimes five, but that just adds to the adventure. Once you hit the deck, the wreck truly comes to life. Schools of fusiliers often swirl around the superstructure, so thick they almost block out the light. Look for large groupers lurking in the shadows of the cargo holds, and we’ve even spotted marble rays cruising along the sand nearby. Our favourite part has to be exploring the bow section, where the anchor chain still drapes dramatically. This is a dive for experienced wreck enthusiasts who appreciate the challenge of depth and the thrill of discovery.
