JBB 97 - Southern Islands

JBB 97, a motor vessel, isn't deep, topping out at 10 metres, but it offers a solid Singapore wreck dive. We love that it’s usually quite sheltered, making it a good pick when the currents elsewhere are pushing a bit too hard. This wreck doesn't demand advanced skills, so it’s perfect for divers looking to get some wreck experience without fighting conditions. Dropping onto JBB 97, you’ll find the hull largely intact, sitting upright on the seabed. It’s a proper structure to explore, not just a pile of debris. Our favourite part is navigating through the open sections of the superstructure; there are plenty of nooks and crannies for macro life. Look closely, and you’ll spot nudibranchs, flatworms, and we've even seen frogfish tucked into crevices. Large schools of fusiliers often mill above the wreck, and batfish are almost always circling, curious about divers. Visibility can vary, but on a good day, the natural light filtering through the water column gives the wreck an almost ethereal glow. We always suggest going at slack tide for the best conditions and a more relaxed exploration.
