KALISUSU - Southern Islands

Kalisusu is one of those Singapore wrecks we always make time for, especially if we have newer divers in the group looking for a bit more than just a reef dive. This old wooden vessel went down in ‘91, and she’s settled nice and flat on a sandy bottom at around 50 metres. You’re not going to find grand multi-deck penetration here, but that’s part of her charm. We love dropping down onto her stern, often finding a pair of resident batfish hanging out, fins swaying in the mild current. The timbers are completely covered in soft corals and sponges, a real explosion of purples and yellows against the dim light. Look closely and you’ll spot nudibranchs, crabs tucked into crevices, and sometimes a small bamboo shark sleeping under a collapsed section. The bow section has some interesting structural elements left, and we usually spend a good chunk of the dive just slowly circling, letting the details emerge. It’s a gentle dive, perfect for practising wreck photography or just enjoying the quiet decay of a sunken ship.
