NATUNA SEA - Southern Islands

The Natuna Sea wreck isn’t your typical Singapore dive, and that’s precisely why we love it. This isn't some deep, technical dive, despite its tanker origins. We’re talking about a massive hull, just barely submerged off Batu Berhani, sitting at a maximum depth of 10 metres. It’s perfect for those lazy weekend trips when you don't want to think about deco stops. When you drop in, the sheer scale of the tanker hits you. At 229 metres long, it’s less about penetration and more about exploring the vast, mangled superstructure and cargo tanks. The damage from the grounding is obvious, creating some interesting swim-throughs where the steel has buckled. While it’s not exactly teeming with pelagics, we’ve often found schools of batfish hanging around the shadow of the deck, and the occasional turtle grazing on the algae that coats the metal. Visibility can be a bit hit-or-miss, typical for Singapore, but on a good day, the light filtering through the shallow water makes the twisted metal glow a ghostly green. It’s a great spot for newer wreck divers or photographers looking to capture something a bit different, without the stress of strong currents or deep profiles. Just be mindful of boat traffic; it’s a busy shipping lane.
