OPL 118 - Southern Islands

OPL 118, out in Singapore's Southern Islands, is our favourite wreck here, hands down. It’s a proper dive, dropping to 24 metres, which means you need to be comfortable with your buoyancy and air consumption. This isn’t a gentle drift over pretty corals; it’s a dark, exciting exploration. The wreck itself is pretty broken up, but you can still make out sections of the hull, some ribs, and what looks like a machinery space. What we love about OPL 118 is how completely it's been taken over by the ocean. Enormous schools of fusiliers often swirl around the superstructure, so thick they almost block out the ambient light, giving the whole dive a moody, ethereal feel. Look closely and you’ll find plenty of nudibranchs, often some impressive moray eels peeking from crevices, and sometimes even a turtle resting on the deck plates. We'd suggest going on a slack tide, if you can time it right, otherwise, the currents can be a serious workout. This site truly suits divers who appreciate the history of a wreck and the resilience of marine life reclaiming it.
