Putri Sea - Southern Islands

The Putri Sea, a motor vessel, isn't just another wreck. We’ve always found a dive here feels like stepping into a forgotten corner of history, especially given its "dangerous wreck" classification. It’s not a site you’ll find on many highlight reels, but for those who appreciate a genuine wreck dive, it’s a quiet standout among the Southern Islands. Dropping down, the wreck emerges from the gloom, its skeletal remains heavily encrusted, a testament to the years it’s spent on the seabed. We love how the structure has become an apartment block for marine life. Look closely and you’ll spot a surprising number of nudibranchs crawling along the rusty hull, their vibrant colours a stark contrast to the muted steel. Batfish often hover, curious, while schools of fusiliers might part for you as you swim past the stern. The maximum depth of 27 metres means it’s accessible for Advanced Open Water divers, and while penetration isn't recommended given its classification, there are plenty of interesting nooks and crannies around the exterior to explore. It’s a site for contemplation, not speed, offering a real sense of discovery for divers who enjoy taking their time.
