REGULUS - Southern Islands

Regulus isn’t about depth, it’s about history and a surprising amount of life in an unlikely spot. This old fishing vessel, sunk back in 1948, now lies almost entirely exposed at just two metres. We love it because it’s a tangible piece of Singapore’s past, sitting right there for everyone to see and touch. You’re really more snorkelling than diving here, but don't let that put you off. As you fin gently around the rusting hull, you’ll spot a surprising number of small reef fish darting in and out of the metalwork. Parrotfish graze on algae, damselfish defend their patches, and we’ve often seen small schools of rabbitfish flitting by. The wreck itself is a mosaic of hard corals and sponges, a stark contrast to its original purpose. It’s perfect for those calm, clear days when the sun penetrates the shallow water, making the colours pop. It’s a site for the curious, for photographers looking for something a bit different, or for anyone who appreciates how nature reclaims man-made objects.
